Abigail Telford Poems

When I saw the things I saw
I had visions
I knew what the future would bring
They all thought I may be mad

Prophet

When I saw the things I saw
I had visions
I knew what the future would bring
They all thought I may be mad
But I knew all along
That they would not believe
I would forsee that too
It never mattered
Until the day I predicted
Our mighty kingdom would fall
That the men from across the sea
Would be the destruction of us all
Led by fierce warriors and immortals
Driven by jealousy and rage and greed
Because my own foolish brother
Took what did not belong to him
Our city would crumble
Our princes would be slain
And all would intrude on our sanctuary
On their great wooden steed
I hid and watched as my world vanished
Why did they not listen to my warnings?
Now we are scattered
Broken
Dead and forgotten
And the ones who wiped us out
Will be remembered forever
