Waiting For Home

She sits there on that bed and hears the water wash by
An unfamiliar sound in an unfamiliar life
She catches the scent of shore
And the wind through the trees
The beauty of nature only a window away
She opens the glass and lets the wind rush in
Crimson hair brushes by her ivory face
She welcomes the sounds and smells of life
But it is a bitter sweet moment as tears fill her eyes
She wants to get attached to all she sees
But she knows better than to do something like that
This is only her temporary home
The moments washing away with the waves
Soon she will be on the move again
New sites to see and sounds to hear
Her heart sinks at the thought of leaving
Every year a new place
Every year without a home
But she clings to hope
Someday when all is said and done
When the pain of life has turned to wisdom
And all her tears have faded
She will welcome the smell of the air with joy
Sorrow will turn to peace
And she will be home
