The Moon

How lovely such a little isle
That settles from a million mile.
A face with a friendly smile
That fades sometimes awhile.

A flare of light so fair and mild
That glows like the cheek of child;
Conspicuous in the deep-blue wild
And the world that watches beguiled.

A vessel in the vastness wide,
A ship that does not shift its glide.
A fellow and a darkness guide
That mellows beam and brightness pride.

A circle blast or crescent light
Just like a glass, so crystal-white;
And it is valiant as a knight
That is vigilant in the night.
