Alison Campbell Poems
At almost the speed of sound, You raced to meet the one
Rat fear Rat near
Whitewashed pier in urgent rain Lays me down upon the sand Drenched and yielding and again Gentle in the lover’s hand
The Lion Roars
Shhhhhh! The lion sleeps. Shhhhhh! Whisper your words
Memorial poem for a beloved rat. Your final breath Breathes winter’s icy chill
At almost the speed of sound,
You raced to meet the one
Who would teach you what it is to be loved
Pausing momentarily to say “hello”
You raced and tumbled…
Climbing deftly up the shower curtain…
And into her heart.
