Bird

Someone bound my wings
tightly to my side
and told me to crawl like a rodent.
so I did
unknowingly.
until today
Splash
My face hits the water,
I am a bird finding fish
flying flying
Cool breeze of grass goes by,
I am a breeze of wind
It is me
but today I am a bird
I open my wings and show you my heart
You say that I have changed but I was always a bird
you say I am different but I just never knew I could fly
Please don't look at me that way
as though I was broken
Please don't tell me I've changed
as though you disapproved of me
you see, I never knew I was a bird
so please,
just watch me fly
and talk to me about my wings.
