Onikoyi

ONIKOYI
******
.....
Bring him Ologini he will eat
Bring him Alapandede he will banquet
Bring him Ahọnrihọn he will gorge
Only eating the squirrel is outlawed.
.
The elephant has no post to which it is
tethered
The king that will tether the elephant has not been crowned
The one who will devour squirrel stalwart
At the sight of Onikoyi is not yet formed.
.
Onikoyi that walks in blemish night
And sees the fallen nails of the infant
Onikoyi that walks during daytime
And refuses to see people passing by.
.
The birds shall never reach the sky
The river shall never drift in might
When Onikoyi is on upsetting fist
The house rat must tell the bush meat.
.
The child of birds on Iroko tree
The child of Akalamagbo that sees mysteries
Onikoyi the one going forward
That sees foes coming backward.
.
Onikoyi the one who saw the village king
And refuses to prostrate to his majesty
People questioned Onikoyi negligence
He said every warrior is a king himself.
.
Onikoyi beheaded his friend at the foursquare
When his friend beheaded a little squirrel
No one was bold enough to have him quarrel
For the squirrel is not what he takes for granted.
.
Onikoyi, the only gigantic one like àràbà tree
Who shakes the forest violently
Onikoyi the jungle dweller who walks
majestically like a king
With no tassel or royal crown seen.
.
The one who eat vulture and it bald head
The warrior that's never relentless
The man that feared men and himself
The protector of all squirrel.
