They Said It Was A Movement

They said it was a movement
They said it was too true
That all these people that we call friends
Were something we no longer knew.

They're rats, they say! They're dirty!
They must be put to rest!
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
Remember, child, father knows best.

But what they don't know is
Love is the revolution,
Love is the movement,
Love is the redemption.

Begone, all you dark eye!
Pure blue must take your place.
Brown curls and a coming savior
Are replace by a pale face.

Shipped off away from home
Given false hope and bread crumbs
Given striped pajamas and beatings
Waiting for when the new day comes.

The bombs are coming, and so is death
How can they support this? It can't be true!
The shadows are painted on sidewalks!
It's amazing, the things we do.

But what they don't know is
Love is the revolution,
Love is the movement,
Love is redemption.
