Throwing her pride on the floor

Thrown in a corner
Were the words “Once upon a time”
Crumbled and forgotten
Waiting to be thrown out

He told her he was temporary
Just practice for all the boys she would meet
She thought he sounded silly
Because she saw him as permanent

When you asked me what I wanted
I responded “Whatever makes you happy”
And even though I was being honest
What I meant to say was “to continue trying”
