Andrea Doumit Poems

After nine long-lived years, the end is here.
We say good-bye to old friends moving on,
And watch as they pack up and disappear.
But very soon we will also be gone.
...

Walking out on the love we once had,
Turning back on everything I gave.
Leaving it all behind was quite sad,
But I still put on the face of the brave.
...

I gave you everything I had,
But you walked out on me.
I held your hand through the day,
Until you gave it all away.
...

4.

Cry away the pain of yesterday,
Wash away your sorrow.
Forgiving doesn't always mean forgetting,
But always look forward to tomorrow.
...

Where did we go wrong so long ago?
Was it something I said?
Was it something I didn't?
I can't forgive myself for letting you go,
...

6.

You had hurt me do many times before,
I just couldn't take it anymore.
You made me forget how to trust,
I had to give it all up.
...

7.

Spread your wings,
And learn to fly.
You must open your heart,
And look through your eyes.
...

His life slipped out of my hand,
As I lay him down in the golden sand.
The cries of the raven high above,
I can't describe my ending love.
...

Watching down over me,
keeping me safe.
They shine the light on my day,
Helping me in every way.
...

One day we left for the ancient fields,
Where we lay down near the cornfields.
I tick your tummy,
And you let out a howl.
...

Dying embers of sorrow,
The love awaiting tomorrow.
Whisks you away to the sun,
Where I wait for you my loved one.
...

There once was a girl who dreamed of happiness,
But never knew how to find it.
The words of others were thrown at her one after another,
Slapping her in the face with a force that brought her to tears.
...

As I lay my head down to rest,
My eyes close without any protest.
I feel myself begin to wander,
Through the dark tunnel of my mind.

Graduation

After nine long-lived years, the end is here.
We say good-bye to old friends moving on,
And watch as they pack up and disappear.
But very soon we will also be gone.

A day filled with numerous hugs and tears,
As we all promise to stay in touch,
And hope to meet again in a few years.
These will be people I’ll miss very much.

But in my mind, I can’t help but wonder,
Where I will be in a couple years’ time
Maybe I’ll rise above or fall under.
No matter what, I’m ready for the climb.

Even though my eighth grade year is complete,
The feeling of leaving is bittersweet.
