My thoughts do wander
Like the restless waves upon the sea,
To lovers new and lovers old
And loves not meant to be,

The morning is rising, the blackbird is singing,
From out of the shadows of branches and leaves,
His song rides the breeze and is breaking the silence,
As into the springtime his melody breathes.

The old school gate still stands here though
The school has long since gone,
It stands amongst the hedgerow now
And opens for no one,
...

I watch the river flowing down towards the deep blue sea,
At the end of its winding path I know you wait for me,
Like the mountains and the valleys and the sun up in the sky,
My love for you will shine eternally and never die.
...

The springtime is dawning, the flowers are blooming,
The hawthorns and hedgerows with blossoms of snow,
The cold days and warm days, sunshine and showers,
The rainbows so pretty their colours aglow.
...

Reflections so still on the water,
A mirror of trees all around,
The colours do change through the autumn,
As leaves gently fall to the ground,
...

I'll walk with God to mountains high
And touch the clouds above,
While there with awe I'll look upon
The greatness of his love,
...

I crossed a field
A stile and gate
And breathed the country air,
So fresh the wind
...

The morning wakes 'neath winter skies
Still dark save for the lamps that shine,
As two men roll the dustbins down
Each pathway to the kerb,
...

Upon the shaded river bank
Where willows weep on water's edge,
And drape the sympathetic shore
That to my heart shall yield,
