Angharad Davies Poems

I forget that I have the capacity to feel anything
Then, You
Come silently into view,
You shake me awake.
...

When I was young
I saw Love hanging from a bough
Like a star burning bright
...

I felt it coming
Strange monsoon
I was stretched and compressed
The heart harpoon
...

I don't remember,
Where has it gone?
Did the wind whistle in and take it?
Did you see it?
...

In the watery depths of my womb,
There lies a shipwreck
Its mast and frame made of you and I
It cries Freedom from within
...

Sometimes I can make myself invisible,
It's true,
All I need is you:
...

Your love for me is now dry
In your heart, the crisp skin
Flakes fall from your mouth
And bury me
...

I love the rain that fell that day
Between the pillars and the stone
We ran like charged children
Through lightening and storm
...

9.

Now I am lost
And the rain falling
Does not touch me
It falls around me
...

I am a man whose heart is yet to break
My Tower is upright and knows no fire
I am intact
...

11.

Your head bent, 'sorry' you say
And all I see is a lanscape of self pity
The weakness of a naughty boy
Gazing up at me from the eyes of a man
...

There is a strange, almost physical stir within,
Like a puppett on a string, the pull on the sea
...

I can hear them,
Like distant childrens voices
They tap at the window and when I look they are gone.
...

That's Just The Way It Is

I forget that I have the capacity to feel anything
Then, You
Come silently into view,
You shake me awake.

For convenience sake
We are 'just good friends'
And yet, everyone is predicting the day of our marriage,
the names of our children.

I cant remember how to deal with Love
And those other men think I am a cold Queen
They have not seen me
Ablaze with feelings
Running naked in parks and riversides
With you.

And then you go,
To live other lives with foreign wives
Who love their cold king
And I return to no-feeling.

And that's just the way it is.
