The Storm Rages Within

Pale underbellies of leaves, exposed by gusts of wind,
Hiding from the rolling, booming thunder.
Rain coming down in sheets, stinging like the tears on my cheeks.
Brilliant flashes of lightning, the temperature drops,
Dark clouds gather, my thoughts as stormy as the weather.
With the battle of the skies above rumbling in my heart,
I cannot escape, dare I try to escape, not yet…
It’s too safe here, in the dangerous, often beautiful storm.
A rush of wind, menacing clouds.. the storm rages within.
