The Best Poem Of ash hersh

What They Forgot To Mention

they said alot of things

such as the older you get the wiser you become

that true friendship is rare and difficult to find

and that loss is only natural

they said to remember that family is the most important thing

and that your parents know what is best for you

that love will come in its own time

and when it does it will be as if you got the air knocked out of your lungs and it will leave you breathless and starstricken

they told me about dreams coming true and that happiness is wherever you choose to find it

they said to never forget your own self worth, and then you will be okay

as long as you stay true to yourself and your values, everything will be fine



But No one ever bothered telling me

that wisdom comes at a heavy price

and experience isn't at all what is rcacked up to be

what we learn is often from what has already damaged us

no one ever mentioned that your parents are vulnerable too

and you will see them cry, probably more then once

and some nights you will hear them through the walls, crying about the pain you weren't aware exsisted

they make mistakes too, we're all broken in some way

i guess they failed to mention

that growing up is one of the most uncomfotable, heartbreaking experiences of your life

or that love will hurt you just as much as it will heal you

and that despite what they say, when it comes around knocking at your door, you will have no choice but to let it in

it will consume you

and when it ends, oh trust me baby girl, it will end at some point or another, it will empty out the contents of your heart onto the cool bathroom floor that you are lying on

cuz when people leave they take part of you with them

and loss is no stranger to the 3am emptiness you will soon grow accustomed to

no one bothered to share the part where naseua overtakes you

about swallowing the bile in your throat to keep your insides down

why didn't they forwarn me of the soul crushing pain that lives in your stomach

or the demons that will torture you, memories

and on the days when your simply to worn down to cry, or perhaps the tears just wont come, you'll lie still for hours, as the time passing becomes irrelevant, wondering when the pain will pass, I know it seems like an enernity

I suppose they forgot to mention that part
