Ashley Joyce Forbus Poems

Almost four years go by, baby please don't cry
These eyes are like two full wells
They are going to burst
She asks for no one to look
...

Slander is a wicked serpent
I do not need to be reminded
I’m harder on myself more than you ever will be
Mistakes I have made are always right in front of me
...

I am tired and I am beat
But no, I will not weep
These troubles i am greeting
This mountain that looks too steep

My eyes are burning!
From pain and Anger
These pages keep turning
All these years and I'm still no Stronger

5.

She trys to escape the masks that haunt, follow, and hunt
her ever waking moves
Laughing masks, sad masks, crying and devilish masks
Masks of all sorts of every emotion you could possible think of
...

I sit beside you while your sleeping
Wanting to give you everything in the world.
every promise never wanting to be broken.
...

Black dress, pressed tight against my chest, it is a threat, but i need to look my best
Black veil plays merry go round with my neck, I stand on a deck while I am slowly losing my precious breaths
Black dress makes my head unbearably heavy, my breaths are too shallow; my eyes are dry and weary
But my eyes manage to still look dreary and I can still hear the faint murmurs of what is inside my chest

Dark nights, stars are burning billions of miles away, in the hollows of the black sky. That is how she feels all the time.
Dark nights, how will she navigate her way, find her way, when all she can see in the nothingness all around her.
Dark nights, she screams at the nothingness the around her. She screams at the numbness inside her, the pains she cannot get away from, and the coldness that drowns her.
Dark nights, no one knows about the fights she fights alones, trapped inside her own self.

Chaos
...

You twisted fool
I tried to give you my heart

11.

Trees above her, below her, to each side of her
Fog obstructing her view, where should she be?
She cannot tell what day it is any more than she can tell what time it is
Which way should she turn?

Ashley Joyce Forbus Biography

I have always enjoyed poetry, have always tried writing my own poems and although I know I'm still new at it and trying to learn so I fully appreiete feed back, good or bad. I am now trying to get more serious about my poetry. My background info...I'm a single mother working and getting by the best I can. I love my son to the ends of world and ever more. Everything I do is for him. I go to a community college and I am studying to become an Occupational Therapist. I enjoy helping others. I am usually a pretty happy person on the outside, I'm the kind of person to always make you laugh. So most of my poems are the complete opposite i think because i dont let people see what is on the inside.)

Almost four years go by, baby please don't cry
These eyes are like two full wells
They are going to burst
She asks for no one to look
Yet everyone has seen her choke
This world is painted gray, she needs new paint to spray
So many moments of his smile, and her heart melts away
It hurts so good to see that smile
It’s all she needs to make it through her day
She would run a billion more miles
But never to run away
On the inside she is still broke
How many times can a heart be crushed
Once for every time I have to share you
Twice every time i have to kiss you good-bye
Three times every time i hear I love you
Four times when you say, I wanna go away
Five times every night you’re not here
Six times when i hear, “you say make me so happy'
Seven times my heart is diminished when we say our goodnight prayers
Eight times when you wrap your small arms around my neck
Nine times every time you spare a kiss
And ten, ten times my heart tears, when i make you cry
This could go on and on and on
This is why she is sad all the time
You count it up, you do the math
