Without You

I've had fun these 8 long years
It seems it's just begun
But really it's slowly ending
I don't want to stop the fun.

You came home that night
But you didn't put up a fight
You were a Christmas present for me
I treated you like you were my baby.

I was just 5 years old when I first met you
You were just born so everything was new
You cuddled up with me all the time
I knew that you would soon be mine.

Every time I got out things to make my lunch
I could guarantee you'd be there ready to munch.
You loved chips and you are one of a kind
Another cat as unique as you, I'd never be able to find.

You were growing as I grew
No more sleeping in my shoe
We were connecting more than ever
You were becoming very clever.

Your 8 years now
I keep thinking wow
Time has passed and you have grew
I now know more about you.
I hold you tight in my arms thinking hard and long

About how hard it's gonna be once you are gone
Once that thought hits my head
My eyes they do shed.

I try not to think of that thought it's hard to think of it
I just keep living each day bit by little bit
I try to spend more time with you hoping you will stay forever
But I know that no one has, ever.

I can't imagine how it will be like when you're not here
It gives me a lot of pain and fear
I love you, my baby please don't go
Even though you'll have to, this I know.
