The Darkness I'Ve Become

Is it the demon within me that I follow what he says
As I walk a dark shadow in the brightness of days
Moments of calm turn into pain that I must continually weigh

Learning of secrets held that only cloud my thoughts
I've learned to love and be strong but I continue to feel distraught
To only be chased by those ghosts that repeatedly haunt

At night as we prepare to dream, I engage in a fear
Listening to those voices that only make me tear
Why can't anyone understand, see or hear

A prisoner in my own mind as I try to move forward
The cage continues to lock me in at every step toward
A life of rest and peace where I am no longer a coward

The hole continues to surround me, its hard to breathe
I know I can make it, I just have to believe
Faith, prayer and love, will this be my answer to be relieved

Only one life, only one chance, I am strong, I am light
I will continue to fight and will no longer fear the night
The Darkness I've Become, leave my sight, leave my sight
