Amongst us and within us our ancestors live.
Their spirit surrounding and guiding us to an Africa of our dreams.
We see their trace in every triumph and victory.
Every colour displayed on the deferent flags that represent African countries.

There are too many lies floating in this space.
Glorified misinterpretations have suddenly become the new definition of black.
We have suddenly accepted the unfounded declarations about who we are and who we ought to be.
We welcome their lies with a smile and suppress our truth in hope that the snakes we sit with across at the dinner table will one day turn into lambs.

There is neither now Vaile nor mask suited for this face
No amount of dust can ever cover the radiance in these eyes.
There is now make-up for this skin type, for this beauty is infinite and
I bear no shame in the scars and rankles that tell a trail of my footsteps.

My heart is writing a letter.

Though there may be a over a thousand words and viewpoints on what life is, to me it begins and ends with one word.

Though we may spend our entire lives searching for the true meaning of life, we may need to look closer than how far our eyes have travelled.

I imagine your heart.
If we were to cut you open and see your heart not just in the physical form but every element of your soul in order to understand what God had deposited in you.
To see how you came to being the women we know today as "the fearless Winnie".
I imagine your heart as I try to understand what it takes for a mother to sacrifice, hugs, kisses and walking your children to school.

There are no superhero in the world but only super humans, and I thank God daily for giving us a version of a super human in such close proximity.
There are no words to thank you enough for the love and sacrifices you have made for us.
You have not just taught us what love is but you have lived what love day in day is out, you have shown what self-sacrifice is.
We can look at ourselves as women today and see your beauty not just in our facial features but in your heart and soul as well.

Find me
Find me, as i lay here in this place waiting and longing.
Find me, I plead
I lay here waiting and hoping that i will see you and that you will see me.

Sometimes encounters with people give you a new perspective about life.
Your actions towards them and what you allow to enter your space of consciousness often teaches you a lot about yourself.
We live in a time of such great loneliness, with so much space to socialize and connect with people, yet we are so disconnected.
Everyone has a friend, a sister or a brother yet we miss each other, even though we are in each other’s presence.

He always comes......
There is a place in my heart that longs and desires to seek and know this man of such great magnitude.
He commands the roaring seas to settle down and hushes the storms of large oceans, who is this men?
With such great power to order the heavens and moves mountains. His word is obeyed by nature; he speaks the world into order and existence. And at his command all tongs and knees bow.

There is an element of sadness to dreams that live only in the heart.
There is a sense of shame that comes with knowing failure so intimately.
I lay awake in this ungodly hour and think, .....how am I going to explain to my future self that i could Have been so much more......if only!
If only i didn't give up on my self

Ubuhle bakho bukhanya bunjenge langa lentsasa yentwasahlobo
Imfudumalo yezwi lakho iyawuphilisa umphefumlo wam.
Mehlo am akhanya uchulumanco oluqhutywa yimincili yokubonana nawe ekupheleni kosuku, ndihlale nawe siphicothe ikamva lethu.

What do we do in the presence of love? what do we say to the one who has loved us before the beginning of time.
What do we say in the presence of the one who created the universe cognisant of every condition we would ever face?
Since the beginning of time, you have covered us with insoluble grace.
We, us.

See us leap and dance with the waves.
Watch us, being ignited and pleased by how we look under the Spackle of water.
Allow your feet to feel the warmth of the sand beneath it, and See the ocean epitomize what love is to me and you.

It is not that we can fully grasp its magnitude,
but it is the desire to fully know it that keeps us alive.
It is not the branches that cover it that make us adore it, but it is the roots form which it stems.
It is not because we are wise to embrace it, but its wisdom is far

It is not the present that tells the resilience of our hearts, but the thought that in the future we shall tell these stories with smiles on our faces.
We leave today with the hope that tomorrow we shall leave in the beauty of our dreams.
With time we will see the fruits of our pain and sacrifice, and in our gratitude we will not forget the road we have travelled.
Life is beautiful with all the seasons it affords us,

Forget not the stares under the clouds.
Know that in the horizon the sun still shines, even though you may be dripping with rain.
Understand that the sun sets only to rise again.

With just her smile, all things can come to a standstill.
With just one look in her eyes, their hearts can tell alluring stories fueled by their over active imagination.
When she glides across the room, it is impossible to miss her presence, course even without effort she makes people take that second look.
Her beauty is undeniable,

At the end of all things, maybe we will remember the beginning.
Perhaps we will know the reason behind our pain and smile because the lessons surpass all that we have lost.
Maybe at the end of life, women will hold hands and chuckle with men who raped, abused, hurt and ostracized them, all in the name of humanity and forgiveness.
Maybe the bitterness and hurt will become like yesterdays news and not a single one of us will hold such great resentment for one another.

It is true that we are born alone and without a doubt we will die alone. We are sole beings with a multitude of dreams with a purpose that longs to be fulfilled.
We are born into a world where our existence is measured by mealy a number.
We are categorized into ethnic and religious groups to tame our way of thinking to fulfill statistical predictions of what our lives will amount to.
Ordinary citizens, we are called but I ask myself, what is ordinary about the human spirit?

Our Ancestors Live!

Amongst us and within us our ancestors live.
Their spirit surrounding and guiding us to an Africa of our dreams.
We see their trace in every triumph and victory.
Every colour displayed on the deferent flags that represent African countries.
Our ancestors live in the grains of our soil and the oceans that separate us.
They live in every ray of sunlight that heats the skin of an African child.
Our ancestors live in you and me as we carry out the teaching of our forefathers.
Our ancestors live.
Our lives are but an instrument of chants from the Gods of Azania.
Our bones are woven with the soul of the heavens to bring forth the splendour of humanity.
Within us are the treasures of culture,
In speech,
In song and in love.
Their existence is visible on sons of the soil and the daughters of Africa.
Our ancestors live!
