There were no promises to make
No special good-byes
but I did push away a few people off my life
who didn't find a reason enough to stand by
In whom I saw no love or light
No affection or delight
No generosity of belonging
No compassion for my strife.
And yes, they might be lying around
scattered pieces of broken glass
Reflecting my misery this time in multitudes
My fortitude impossible to trespass!
I've got no monopoly on the truth
There would be innumerable vantage points
But life is a celebration of meaningful relations
And yet most of it is spent in earning dimes.
But then, yet again
The past glows with a blissful smiles
Coloured by the pensive truth of my life
Burdened by the journey of uncountable miles
