Autumns Garden

Granite sky weeps its tears
Over leaves and grasses
No relief from blue skies
Can be found in this day

Colours fade to red and gold
Before they slip away from us
Drifting like snow upon streets
To be kicked up in happy mood

Bare earth appears between
Flowers come no more here
In autumns garden rarities
Grace the beds and borders

The beauty of the seasons passes
Rolling into one long parade of joy
