In Melbourne for the last three decades far away from his Hometown
Far from the city of Berlin where he once dreamed of renown
In the bigger World out there his dreams he went to pursue
But not everyone becomes famous and not every dream does come true.
Hans is single in his early fifties he never did have a wife
And as of yet he has not fathered children though he's had a few loves in his life
He has made love to quite a few women to him they come and they go
He says the more he has learned of the fair sex the less about them he know he know.
He still has a strong German accent something with him that will stay
Until the reaper will claim him death to us all comes one day
One with a great sense of humor and one who can laugh at a joke
There is nothing to dislike about him Hans is a very good bloke.
After five or six beers at the Local he joins in the sing along
There's more to life than work he will tell you there's beer wine and women and song
He never takes life too seriously and he never seems to have a care
His laughter is quite infectious and people like him are so rare.
In Essendon a Suburb of Melbourne Hans he will grow old and gray
He won't be going back to live in Berlin that's part of his yesterday
Happy in his early fifties far away from his Hometown
Where he went to school in the sixties and where he daydreamed of renown.
