A distant thunder in the sky
warned man the storm was near
Sharp warning bolt of light'ning struck
as if to say, ' stay clear'
Then slowly popped the raindrops
one by one - falling like tears
Faster, faster - raindrops flowed -
heartbeat sent hint of fear;
Snap! Downpour cracked suddenly -
soon dirt was turned to mud;
Once dusty soil sent puffs of smoke;
the Earth, engulfed - flash flood;
Raging power picked up houses;
loud crushing, crunching thuds;
A distant thunder in the sky
warned of approaching blood.
