Diverse ethnicity forty-two tribes in all,
Like multi-coloured attire in a shopping mall,
Or diverse goods upon a supermarket stall,
So are the many tribes, one flag unites us all,
So said our second President, united we stand divided fall.
Variety they say, is the spice of life,
So why, I ask, dear countrymen, is the strife,
Discrimination, of Kikuyu ‘gainst Luo need not be rife,
Since together, forward we move and get on with life,
Therefore we need to co-exist and unite we strive.
High and lofty, in the wind flies the black, red and green,
‘Gainst graft, ethnicity and unemployment must we strive and win,
Ethnicity to gather together not ethnicity to disperse I mean,
Is what drives us towards progress, not to lose but to win,
Making us all proud of the black, red and green.
Green scenery, warm beaches at Mombasa, nimble athletes make my heart glow,
Diverse fauna, Serengeti and Mara cause tourists to Kenya draw,
Rivers Athi, Tana, Nairobi, one of these power generates from flow,
We ought ‘gainst the winds of strife to pray, that they cease to blow,
So that God Almighty may help us all to build one Kenya, united we stand.
