A whisper spoke unto my heart
I turned away, I would not start
a path I could not finish.
A shout rang out to call me back,
I held my ears - another track
would be my chosen dwelling.
A hand touched mine when I cried here,
I pushed away, yet did not fear
another hand would guide me.
Tears mixed with mine, but I with pride
would look elsewhere, my eyes to hide
the gentle face upon me.
A whisper spoke, and on my knees
I heard it through my cries and pleas,
the whisper softly holding me.
I know the voice within my heart,
the voice of God calls me apart
a sinner so beloved.
A whisper speaks to all who hear
of sin and death, and still come near
to drink of Life Eternal.
