Ghost From The Past

What happened the night before last
Did we do what I think we did
Did I go down that road again
You were a ghost from the past

I look in the mirror I’m totally aghast
I remember your touch
I remember your smell
But you’re a ghost from the past

It took some time, I moved on at last
I found myself, the one I lost
The soul I gave away
To a ghost from the past

We had fun, it was a blast
We partied, we drank
You were there, then you were gone
You became a ghost from the past

My heart was dark from the shadow you cast
My soul was shattered
My emotions were bruised
I buried you, ghost from the past

I fell so hard, I fell so fast
Now I’m scared
I don’t want this again
Please, stay, a ghost from the past

My love was anchored, I rolled up my mast
My sea became calm
I no more wished to sail
You took my wind, ghost from the past

The void you left was huge, it was vast
No one else got in, it was too deep
I want to be empty, it hurts too much
Don’t come back, stay a ghost from the past
