See the glazed eyes of a soldier dying,
Then think hard before any war planning,
Easy to lead men to fight or preparing,
Than to endure and peace restraining.
War – Older men declare shrewdly,
But the youth fight and die gallingly,
Patriots talk of dying for their country,
Never of killing for their country.
All mankind does ever realize,
Organized slaughter not prized,
As it of no settlement can be,
Merely silences argument only.
