In Search Of God

I looked for God in holy places.
I looked for God in busy streets.
I searched each day at work and play.
Where e'er I searced he wasn't there.
Oh where is God? Oh where, oh where?

I searched for him through hill and valley,
through mountains, desert, sea to sea.
Looked through forest, field and farmland,
I searched and searched, he wasn't there.
Oh where is God? I know not where.

I looked for him in far off places.
I searched by land, by air and sea.
Searched the faces of the races.
I could not find him anywhere.
Where are you God? Please tell me where.

I grew weary from my searching
and fell upon my knees in prayer.
Ah, at last my search was over.
I found him there inside my heart
and now I see him everywhere.
