Life is a bath of racism, genocide and poverty;
of hunger, disease and depravity;
seemingly full of men machinating malevolently.
Too hot to jump straight in,

I’m not part of a lost generation.
I’m not part of the 1%;
I am part of a generation who was led astray.
The 99% lay on the back of a horse cart on the hay

I’m a soldier and I’ve fought for my land
Served king and county and it makes me more of a man
And I don’t want anyone to take it away from me
...

Fire, fire! The earth’s on fire!
Pass me a bucket and join the queue
if you don’t then things will get dire.
The savannah, the Hague and the few

Life As A Bath Or Shower

Life is a bath of racism, genocide and poverty;
of hunger, disease and depravity;
seemingly full of men machinating malevolently.
Too hot to jump straight in,
We’re too scared to ever begin
to live.
We test it gingerly with an elbow or toe,
whilst never contemplating how we could possibly know
whether we’ve lived.

Should life not be a shower of joy?
A continuous sprinkling of happiness,
of hugs, smiles and small generous offers
and likeable people who care for and love us.

So pull the plug and jump right in
as around our ankles everyone’s sin
is washed slowly away.
And as the shower begins to spray
down our necks humanity will trace
cleansing us; and collectively we’ll be a human race.
