Patiently Waiting To Take My Own Life

Patiently waiting to take my own life.
I marked it with an X, November the ninth.

Oh wait, there's an event already set to take place.
A business trip to Tampa for 3 to 4 days.

I guess I can move it, to a later date.
Now to pick a spot to finalize my fate.

My son's recital, I can't miss that.
He plays the saxophone and wears that jazzy hat.

Hmmmm, this month is full.I can't find a spot.
Even for death, a time is difficult to allot.

So, I move it forward 30 squares.
Should it matter? Nobody cares.

Except maybe my daughter, who is tying the knot.
I'm supposed to walk her down the isle, I'm the only dad she's got.

I'll wait until she's gone and has stopped calling to cry.
So that I can finally schedule in my plan to die.

I wish I was a better husband to my fed up wife.
So that I wouldn't be patiently waiting to take my own life.
