Reality

Somehow lost in the vivid memory
Of loss of love, pain and misery
Blackness envelopes me, wrapping around
A cloak of darkness, smothering,
dragging me to the ground.

I open my eyes and try to see
A glimmer of Light would be like a Savior to me
Yet neither darkness nor light can I see
Only scenes from my life flash before me.

Of many things in my life I can be proud
But too many times I was screwin' around
Not learning the lessons that I needed to learn
So many hours and days away did I burn.

At times I wandered and I wavered
To others' needs and desires did I cater
And in the midst of it all I did stand
Frustrated, confused and longing for an outstretched hand.

Oh, I tried to be strong and true to myself
But my focus was gone, packed away high on a shelf
I allowed myself to be deceived
And in the end was left only with 'me'.

Seeing these things as clear as day
Leaves me but one thing to say…

Find the desires of your heart
Go after them with all of your might
Do what you must to reach your goals
And Never, Ever Give Up The Fight! !
