Bruce Deitrick Price Poems

Death will one day
hold you in his arms
and sweetly kiss you;
death will know how
...

this poem is a dream
you wish to escape

if only you would awake
...

Even more than delicious and desirable
you are—and this is universally verifiable—
absolutely and totally unreliable.
Another day or two of you, and I—so placid and pliable-
...

oh to uncage words
as startling as birds
naked and silken
full of song and shriek
...

Clarity is the cruelest mode,
patients aetherized on the table must be code.

Bruce Deitrick Price Biography

Novelist; author of seven books; artist; poet, and education reformer. Main news: I have a new book coming out in February, Frankie, which is a unique mystery ('Experts are baffled as many die in a university town. Cause of death: unknown.') And I want to encourage more discussion of Theoryland, which I have always suspected is the best long poem in English. Others may disagree and I want to hear their nominations. More on this when I can spark a discussion. Lit site is Lit4u.com. My ed site is Improve-Education.org.(now being rebuilt))

The Best Poem Of Bruce Deitrick Price

One Day

Death will one day
hold you in his arms
and sweetly kiss you;
death will know how
you like to be loved:

stroll now in the mind
of God, cartwheel
across the diamonded
sky, say hello to
hell and back, skin
your knee on a
vanishing dream,
bite down hard
on forever,
soar like song
through the sunset
of the world
