Bukowski's Ghost

Bukowski's Ghost Poems

It’s only bad if you know it’s bad.

Do you ever wonder why
We hide the disenfranchised and the lost?
...

There’s a dresser
Corner of the room
It’s not Welsh
But it’s old.
...

It’s not a long walk
Just down the cobbled pass and
Then you hook a left and hey –
Little enclave
...

There’s a church in town, St Michaels
it’s called
And it’s black.
The stone itself is black

It's Only Bad If You Know It's Bad

It’s only bad if you know it’s bad.

Do you ever wonder why
We hide the disenfranchised and the lost?
The sundered and the pariahs
The freaks and the lepers

It’s so we can help the nearly doomed and in doing so, tell the well off its ok.

You can have a voice if you nearly have nothing.
But if you really have nothing
You are
Society’s ghost.

Because it’s only bad if you know it’s bad.

Eat from a bin and nobody wants to know
Appear on TV because you can’t quite stretch
Your benefits to the end of the month
And everyone wants to know.

Just so we can help the nearly doomed and in doing so, tell the well off its ok.
