CJ is, predominately viewed as a writer of works for children, yet those works contain an approach that crosses all age groups. Her works can be humourous or filled with pathos. Her use of words can paint a picture of innocence that contrains its own profoundity. 'Daddy's Boots' is a perfect example of how CJ approaches her work. It is at once a portrayal of innocence and a need to abandon that innocence at times of trauma.
Her children's works have an incredible universal appeal and if one is tempted to dismiss them because CJ classes them as Children's pieces, then you do so at your Peril.
In her non-childrens verse, CJ carries over her approach to more adult themes. In doing so she presents a world that is deeply sad, incredibly humourous and sometimes intimate. |

C.J.,
I really enjoy reading your poetry. I also greatly appreciate your kind comments on my poems, they are so much more meaningful coming from a talent like you.
Thanks again,

Hi. I love your poetry (don't know how much that's got to do with the fact that you write in much the same style as I do!) ..'Dancing with Fairies' is great, quite simple and short, but fun to read and recite and very picturesque. Do you mind if I copy some of your poems on to a UK forum that I use? We don't go in for 'heavy' stuff, but enjoyable easy-reading (IDF50, poetry corner) .
Please keep writing! |

Your piece, 'A Box For Goodwill' is very touching...moving. I recently lost my father and this piece meant a lot. Thank you for sharing. Have you considered publishing a book?

It's like reading the poems of an intelligent child! And believe me, I thought that before I read your biography ;) |
