Autumn Days

The air was cool and the sun was warm
As I walked across the bridge
I could hear water gushing like a geyser
From the side of the mountain
Falling, falling dropp by drop
Beating on the rocks washing each
Drop of water until crystal clear
Before it became a part of the crystal clear creek
Rushing along the ravine between the mountains
As I made my way to the other side
Up the hill, stepping on the rocks
Placed by nature alone
I climbed up, and up
Where a quiet place was waiting
Atop the hill a bed of grass so green
I stretched out and gazed to the heavens
With each breath I felt a peaceful calm
Take over my being deep within
Then leaves began falling
Swirling all around from the gentle breeze
The sky opened up like a giant kaleidoscope
Colors floating through the air
Spinning, spinning with radiant colors of
Red, yellow, gold, auburn, orange
They fell all around, engulfing me
Blanketing me with their radiance so fair
They covered me as if they were protecting me
Just as they protect the ground from the winter snows
Ahhhh, yes this was autumn…beautiful, beautiful autumn…
