Caryl Ramsdale Poems

In a tiny Irish village,
The oldest fishing town around;
Fisherfolk designed a signet,
That bears a heart, hands and a crown.
...

Fair knight
Saved another
Rushed twenty men of arms
A vast forest closed behind him
...

Grandma says:
The road to heaven is long,
'Cause it's way up there in the sky;
I know the Lord told her the truth,
...

A poet, a pen and a smile
Reached out from the Emerald Isle;
Hatching hilarious rhymes—
Buoying up bittersweet times—
...

Seeds
Concealed
In soft souls
Ripen sprinkle
...

The Lord knows who you pray to,
And He knows what's in your heart;
God responds to loyal ones,
Who respect Him from the start.
...

There's a peaceful place I like
Where men are a world away;
I'm at home with nature there
Because God made it that way.
...

Taxes have a long history,
During New Testament time;
Tax collectors were known cheaters,
Their kings were their partners in crime.
...

Nightly they tuned the dial
To wonderful worlds of sound.
Broadcasts came through airwaves and
Captured everyone in town.
...

Today my mommy called me an angel,
God made angels 'cause my daddy said so;
God's angels peek out God's windows at me,
He made them beautiful. That's all I know.
...

Protect
People of peace
A race lives in hiding
Possessing magical powers
...

Apples
Sweet, tart
Sampling, saving, savoring
Crop, pickers, harvest, reapers
...

Admire, cherish, value, prize
All who are put in your care;
Broken hearts cry silently
Sending out petition prayers.
...

Downstream—
Clashing delights
Knockdown warrior tilts
On luscious, meadow greenery—
...

Perchance
Knightly mission
Thick forest aplenty
Untrodden wilderness journey
...

Rhyme: The Claddagh

In a tiny Irish village,
The oldest fishing town around;
Fisherfolk designed a signet,
That bears a heart, hands and a crown.
The centered heart betokens love,
Two friendship hands touch either side;
A regal crown surmounts the heart,
Signifies loyalty, with pride.
Sigils were painted on ship sails,
Then a goldsmith crafted that seal;
Into a fine, gold, marriage ring,
With cosmopolitan appeal.
Heirloom rings circle our fingers,
Remind us of our wedding day;
Inside our rings it is written,
'Remember our vows when you pray.'
Worn on the left hand, turned inward,
Foretells a promised heart and soul;
Worn on a right hand turned outward,
Signals you're free, available.
The Irish symbol of love is,
Our rings many stare at in awe;
They originated in the,
Ancient village of the Claddagh.
