Cecilia Tyne Poems

The little brooks of the countryside,
are far from the rivers great and wide;
But softly flow through the meadows still,
and with quiet grace their tasks fulfill.
...

O what of our work and our lofty dreams?
Shall they vanish in vapid dust?
Shall influence die like the dried up streams?
Shall all that is gold turn to rust?

A Little Brook

The little brooks of the countryside,
are far from the rivers great and wide;
But softly flow through the meadows still,
and with quiet grace their tasks fulfill.

They sing in the hills their happy song;
They gladden the dales the whole day long;
Through verdant fields they quietly flow,
And leap with joy as they onward go!

If life decrees that I be denied
A creek or a river great and wide,
Then let me be but a tiny rill;
But let me gladly my course fulfill.

A stream of truth let me be and give,
That folks who know me may better live;
A brook of love that freely imparts
The gift of kindness to human hearts.
