I enjoy writing. I always hope that people will enjoy reading. I write things that rhyme and have a rhythm because I have never understood how a poem is a poem without these elements. I suppose a sophisticated poet who understands that stuff will laugh at me but I don't care. I write because I enjoy it.)

Ladders

I saw the dirt, I felt the wet, I know of which I speak.
A pit so dark, so dark and damp and ever was it deep.

Till once a man with rope in hand aspired to set me free.
He said just climb and in good time you'll thank the G.O.P.

But OH! that climb, that arduous climb was more than I could stand
And now I think about it, I'm not sure I'll thank the man.

Soon after came a democrat his heart upon his sleeve
To keep me dry he built a roof before he had to leave.

Republican returned and said that I should not lose hope
He cut a hole into the roof to make room for the rope.

Again the democrat came by, and looking out for me
He brought some food and that's not all, a new big screen TV.

The other had devised a plan, Ascent I'd make with ease.
And so with righteous fervor, on the rope he slathered grease.

The democrat dug tunnels so the pits could organize
Together we all talked and dreamed of hopes unrealized.

When next I saw republican, he told me what he thought
the rope is there, it's up to me, just seize and climb... or not.

We formed a human pyramid and one of us got out.
We jumped and danced to see him free, relieving so much doubt.

He wrote to me about a job that he had almost got.
A ladder store for lack of sales had had to close up shop.
