Charles Reginald Simpson Poems

Where's he gone now, mom? - Don't ask me.
The last I knew - he was having his tea.
Where's he gone now, mom? - in his room I guess.
On his computer... or just making a mess.

For nine months she labours, her baby appears.
She suckles and nurtures and struggles for years.
With love and affection, she helps her child grow
Until the day comes when she has to let go.
...

For hours he practiced - alas twas in vain.
He played it, and played it again and again.
Why couldn't he do it? Why was it all wrong?
With the other musicians - he didn't belong.
...

To hold a tiny baby
That moments past was born.
To see a lover waken,
in the sunshine of the dawn.
...

At 80 years old, I still feel in school,
and as each day passes, feel more like a fool.
To be told what to eat, and also what not.

Ode To The Teenager

Where's he gone now, mom? - Don't ask me.
The last I knew - he was having his tea.
Where's he gone now, mom? - in his room I guess.
On his computer... or just making a mess.
His music's so loud, I hardly can hear,
You know - I'm sure he's deaf in one ear.
Spends hours on the phone, or down at the gym,
and have you seen lately, the size of him? ?
His clothes just don't fit, they all seem so small.
I just can't believe how he's growing so tall.
Where's he gone now, mom?
Has he come home from school?
He's no longer with us - you silly old fool!
He's got him a wife now, this nest he has flown.
He's happily married - with kids of his own...
The phone never rings now, - time goes so slow.
Where's he gone now, mom?
I really don't know.....
