Waiting For The Scene

johnny sayes
at twenty-four
sat on the bar stool
by the door
waiting for the Scene to come through
he drank beer, ale
ate pretzels and patato chips
looking out the door
waiting for the Scene to come through
he watched TV, drank
played pool in the back room
still staring
through the windowed door

he smoked, laughed,
listened to the Juke Box play
made small talk,
drank some more
when he was fifty-four
he still sat by the door
waiting for the Scene to come through
