Coen Carter Poems

I saw a star in Venice
I saw a star tonight
I saw a star falling then regain its flight.
I saw a star in Rio
...

We can’t all be heroes some of us dying
An unbearable silence while the world sits crying
I’ve swam in her oceans and felt a saltwater mist
And lay on her shores to witness a tryst
...

My world has been stolen nothing left in motion
All that once was broken now swallowed by the ocean
Diaries of writing fuelled with hidden fears
Now sinking to the bottom the ashes turn to tears
...

She’s a distant queen with a gazing stare of ice
And if you FALL in love with her she’ll MAKE you pay the price
Not forgotten but yet so lonely she RAGES all alone
And you’re to SIT and WONDER if this ever was her home
...

His art takes him back in time to memories he now regrets
Unfailing with consistency so he cannot forget
A living breathing person with a soul just like my own
Met so many like him but yet so all alone
...

She comes in shadows light when I have no
Protection
Dead poets taking flight in mirrored life’s
Reflection
...

Incoherent ramblings that slowly turn to sense
Miscarriage of emotions trapped inside this fence
Surgeries in secret to hide this battered face
Cosmetic in its purpose the time I start to race
...

The true tragedy of my life is that I’ve watched my birth; my
life and my death and in my arrogance believed the passing
moments belonged to me
It’s only now I realise they were never mine at all
...

If you cannot capture the imaginations of friends and
family maybe its just that they’re not to be your audience.
...

Peace is just a theory in which we want to live
Peace is just a notion that seems hard to give
...

I thought I had no passion, I thought it was a lie.
But then I found compassion and softly start to cry.
It wasn't for myself I was crying for another.
I was crying for a little girl who had just lost her mother.
...

Manipulation was created by the weak so
they one day will feel strong.
...

They speak to me in whispers so no one else
can hear
Show themselves in mirrors but the pictures not to clear
They guide me through my troubled life stringing me along
...

Alcohol is the perfect substitute for those who
don’t want to feel any real emotion
...

Just because I show no remorse
does not mean I am without a heart
...

Somewhere there is someone who is dreaming of your smile and
knows in your presence that life is all worthwhile.
...

To make fun of ones lack of knowledge is to leave
himself open to speculation of his own
...

18.

There has to be an easy way to walk through
this life? It just so happens that I don’t know
of one.
...

I have long been fascinated with the things that spring from the fountain of
life.
...

I’ve woke upon the sheets of shame
Cried my tears in pouring rain
What’s to become of this broken city
Nameless, shameless and full of pity
...

I See Stars

I saw a star in Venice
I saw a star tonight
I saw a star falling then regain its flight.
I saw a star in Rio

I saw a star in you
I saw a star twinkling in different shades of blue.
I saw a star in Heaven
I saw a star in Hell
But never did I see a star twinkling on my world.

I've seen a star fading
I've seen it cross the sky
I've seen so many different stars trying not to die
I've seen them come together

I've watched them grow apart
I have seen so many stars in a lovers heart.
I've seen the stars exploding
I've seen the quiet and calm

I've heard them whisper secrets in a world full of harm
I saw a star twinkling in different shades of blue
But never in all my life have i seen a star like you...
