She was lying unconscious and helpless
Inside the emergency room sorrounded with nurses
She lied still, no pulse, no heartbeat
Almost lifeless, she struggled to keep her every breath

I remember you most when things go wrong
I think of you every time I hear a love song
When I'm sobbing inside, I just think of how you laugh
Your words of encouragement have lifted me up

And I smile while I cry deep inside
I laugh despite the pain that I hide
I have you here right beside me
Yet your thoughts are seem so far away

Under the burning heat of the sun
They were forced to sleep with a thick blanket
