The old man's face is full of wrinkles
his eyes are as black as coal
his long braids are all gray now
you can tell this life has taken its toll

Black pools of tainted water,
air heavy with poisonous gases,
fertile farmland paved over,
all in the name of progress.

Shadows creeping from the corners
Perhaps a whisper from the past
Inward goes the deepest pain
Rearing up when least expected
...

n that special twilight time when sleep still holds on
I felt the softest touch of breath upon my neck
As whispers floated out of the shadows
I felt upon my lips the gentlest little peck

A precious little girl
lying on the floor
when home I came
and opened up the door
...

Lost in a world of denial
that this could happen to me
our marriage was perfect
or so I thought
...

As long dark lashes flutter down
like a feather gently touching her face
a single tear dropp falls
...

Quivering fingers touch upon keys of satin
in my mind forever flowing
thoughts of yesteryear filter through
like the wavy stream of sunlight

Great Spirit, I am alive
my heart beats to distant drums
