In a place so innocent, no pain to endure
a being existed, with essence so pure

It was a beacon of light with radiant beams,
unconstrained, spanning the seas

Brightening the sky, and all below
for all those who witnessed its beautiful glow

Then came a figure blocking its rays
intruding, unmoving, there it stays

The light shined on, but began to fade
as if the figure was of darkness made

The sky turned black, the seas grew cold
the land was taken, from the roots it was pulled

Everything destroyed, a mess not cleanable
by a figure, malicious, that seemed unbeatable

But some relief was had as the figure took leave
cackling, grinning, giving reason to grieve

Time had passed and the world had healed
but the being unknowingly had a fate that was sealed

It noticed its light was not as bright as before
when inside, a shadow was forming at its core

An entity so dark and vile as the first
grew larger within the dying body of the cursed

The being had tried to mend past wounds
but it knew that the shadow was coming soon

Knowledge was sought out in the hope for a cure
such a thing did exist, but was impossible to procure

Lords of the realm on this subject decreed
a being is a being, no matter from what seed

So the light crawled away, dim and weakened
the rules put in place had ruined this beacon

And when the shadow came to be, surely a taint on the world
it appeared as if the figure was there, twisted and curled

Smaller no doubt, but the feeling was the same
the figure who made it was where all darkness came

With no escape from a life so grim
a life with a creature, where power is with him

Creating darkness, and letting it exist
lords proclaiming laws are laws, do not resist

Where a great being of light is snuffed out
and a new creature is made that no one cares about

No words to give, no feelings to convey
there's only black and white, there is no gray

But at least one life was saved on that fateful day
even though that life won't want to live anyway

Now take a moment to think what could have been done
had the lords been more lenient towards the innocent one

There would still be turmoil, peace would be shattered
but life would reform back from the tatters

Unwillingly forming a symbol of darkness at the core
and being able to be free from it, and glow once more

The shadow averted, the figure back in its den
the being shines bright in the world once again
