Everything Stops

In your absence,
Everything stops.

I lose consciousness, at odds with reality, and when you speak,
I am awakened to feel the faint beating of my heart.
Lifeless, without a pulse, until the hope of you revives the energy in me.

Your quiet subtleties intrigue me,
Leaving me mystified, while I lay misty-eyed, as spatial order separates us.
Though I am fighting hard against compulsion,
Gravity is propelling me to this captivating force.

I have not fed my soul nor watered my spirit because the expectation of you is making me weary.
My mind restless, equilibrium awash in confusion,
As minutes go through their stages and phases of hours and now days.
Although I remain physically in motion,
I am internally still until your presence releases me.

I am unsure about how to proceed or if I should retreat or recede or if I will eventually succeed in unraveling the mystery that is you.

The sun stretches upon the canvas of your countenance,
Magnifying every feature and the beauty it enhances.

Your eyes when they meet mines travels off to some faraway space that knows neither time or place and I know that is where I want to be because that is where you are.

Doubts and suspicions of things that cannot be true,
For fear that my fear will not be allayed or subdued.

This dance of the two psyches, inching ever forward but the time is now to gain feet,

My gait is unsteady, but inner turmoil is as of late a moat,
The struggle remains to remain discreet.

Until then, in your absence,
Everything stops.
