I can't breathe this rancid air anymore
Suffocating from failure to pursue
One man's dream, instead strange fruit in the trees
Equality appears the grail of lore

Someday I'll see her smiling with golden sun in her hair
Like the dreams I've been having for so long
Someday her scent will waft on the breeze like fresh morning air
And the voice she speaks will be like a song
...

Don't move too quickly to scare her away
Don't be too coy to feign disinterest
Keep the ugly past inside for now
To even come close it must be this way
...

Today a reminder that one man's pride
Cannot destroy our faith in tomorrow
And four years is not nearly enough time
To destroy a dozen score and five more

The sun weighs heavy, day is growing long
The dusk will soon replace the here and now
And the nighttime of life will settle in
Sleep will dispel the whys and whats and hows
