Down and out L.A. poets
sip out a red sun.
Santa Monica coffee’s pricey
take a holiday back downtown
...

Tanja sits in a park
the brown from her tanned skin
falling out
blister on one toe
...

3.

I walked a 1000 lifetimes to end up at your door
to you it looked like I had just walked right in
it was half opened
it was half broken
...

4.

All prayers bring me
closer and further away from you
All songs undone
on these streets we walked on
...

Stepdaughter and beggars
where rivers turn to salt
10 years is a long time
to finally taste the sea
...

All the tears used to set the bricks on the buildings
the statues on the ramblas have seen
through the corners of their eyes
from the rush of the morning
...

I would always crawl
to her place
half dead
cold
...

A city which has a heaven
and a end of the world
a hospital
a lover’s lane
...

9.

In the past
they split up the globe
and sold souls
now they sell hearts
...

10.

Raval crimes
sigh
I stare into the sky
repeatedly
...

11.

the seconds tick
the CD skips
the girl eats
the time spills into a crack
...

A dusky haze
through Brooklyn shades
writer’s write and painters paint
It could be the same sun
...

13.

the simple pleasure
of just being with you
longing in the course sand
and the dark river
...

these eyes just don’t have the confidence anymore
those spanish girls standing on the street corner
would have wanted to have known what happened
their smiling eyes in the sun
...

hello
get up at 8: 30
walked out home
in a perfect world
...

Almost Perfect

Down and out L.A. poets
sip out a red sun.
Santa Monica coffee’s pricey
take a holiday back downtown

taciturn dreams lost
coz she lingered then waited then went
one more heartbreak to seal your fate.
one more letter unsent

Hollywood’s so big
they got movies playing on the skies
I’m sure it was a 70’s re-run
rent-a-car bouncing on those roads

stuck downtown
with the smell
Mexican’s selling oranges
people painted concrete
down and out L.A. poets
sitting on the gutter
before the sun sets
I want to get back to Santa Monica
to Venice
to somehow feel close to you
