Dave Tendell Poems

Tonight, dark gloomy clouds drift…past a shinning full moon,
Where dead leafless tree branches sprawl…and suddenly swoon
A cold breeze is at hand…throughout the unsettled air.
I must wonder, is this reality…or just one more nightmare.
...

A pleasing sizzling sound
As fresh spicy aromas hover from all around.
Lonely hens loitering in an empty nest;
While roosters boast their very best.
...

Within the Heavens so far far away
Above the cottony clouds that float astray;
Like a mass of ants anticipating left over crumbs in a picnic basket, my loved ones patiently wait
Just inside the famous arches of Heaven’s doorway at the renowned golden gate.
...

I wear my trusty blue jeans that hang below my waist in the back,
It’s not my fault- I was just born with such a high crack.
My belly may jiggle well over my favorite pants,
But I got the moves; I get down when I dance.
...

The musty stench reaches its’ final destination.
In this old attic, a bulky blanket of dust covers everything like the desert sands after a turbulent storm.
Below the filth all remains unscathed.
The entirety around is a good and sometimes painful recollection of a forgotten past.
...

The shadows can see, as sharply as the hungriest of birds,
but sadly choose not to hear the significance of God’s most essential words.
Stumbling through life, they prefer blindness to the sparkling light,
but often can distinguish the dark faded noises of the most deafening night.
...

Please help me…

Nobody… takes me serious.
Nobody – cares that I make it.
...

A thin hat kept the sun from blinding my poor sensitive eyes,
as I swatted away at the little famished mosquitoes and pesky flies.
Swarming wasp chased me, like fighter jets, all around,
as I watched for sneaky snakes slithering upon the weeded ground.
...

J ust as I began to crumble and give up.
E ternal light is in my infinite future.
S ins forgiven for I have been born once again.
U seless like an old worn out shoe I am no more.
...

Similar to a lonesome marshmallow,
I consist of a puffed up body of pure saturated fat.
Leaving not a single morsel
for my starving puny cat.
...

We hum like blissful angels as the stunning sun shows it’s brightness from over the East.
The prisms of radiant dazzling colors fill the neighboring scene
The building of shelters, the hunting for food fills the sparkling settled atmosphere.
Peace, love and tranquility rule the calm land.
...

The colorful activities of awe-inspiring spring soon leap on winter’s obvious realm.
The heavenly spectrum of stunning colors is enough to awaken and overwhelm.
Blooming treasures fragrance as rainy winds often blow.
Like the passing of time, spring must inevitably relinquish and eventually go.
...

Tonight you look so innocent and beautiful as you lay sleeping alongside me.
Yesterday you were beautiful and unspoken.
The eve of yesterday you were vicious hateful and quite hideous.
Your moods changed fast, like a pubescent reaching puberty.
...

Quivering sweat pours from my young, but continuously aging brow.
Reeking salt covered shimmering ice pellets fall from my human-like skin,
Everyone watches me… the lame peculiarity before them from eyes that seem to be situated on the flipside of their cloned heads.
...

You were there
with your life to share.
I wouldn’t be here
If I didn’t hold you to my heart so dear.
...

I am of no importance…That is what they say.
I guess, everlastingly at least until my ultimate dying day.
Like a piece of a puzzle, I yearn to fit
As a lifeless rock, I do nothing but continually sit.
...

Stone cold faces, like the features of the dead, lurk back.

Evilness Prevails

Tonight, dark gloomy clouds drift…past a shinning full moon,
Where dead leafless tree branches sprawl…and suddenly swoon
A cold breeze is at hand…throughout the unsettled air.
I must wonder, is this reality…or just one more nightmare.

On this unsettled night… dark evil creatures are allowed to run free
I fearfully tremble…as I worry one of them may suddenly grab a hold of me.
They haunt in the form of ghost, demons or even dismembered heads.
Surely…they must sleep in coffins instead of in comfortable beds.

Oh…like death’s rattle, I hear little knocks upon my door.
As I get up…I tremble as I can’t bare the fear anymore.
At the door, I am confronted with a dilemma I must surely meet.
I can experience a night full of trickery or pay with a sweet.
