David Aslin Poems

A grafted rose grows upon a hearty stock
Raised upon a soil of love,
Her stalk strengthens & reaches toward the sun,
Thorns develop to guard against danger.
...

The winds run from a high to a low

The frost bites the ground, once the sun has gone
...

Dark as my room in the mid of the night,
the brief flash of light only to magnify the shaddows upon the wall, just to tourment and torture me more
The creatures that crawl up upon my wall, circle around and are trying to claw, bite and gnore upon my tormented body and soul
Lashing out the darkness tires to reach for my heart, i've nowhere to run - to back away, but only dark corners can i run

What is the wind, without the sun
What is the rain, when there is no thirst to quench
What is the soil, with no life to nurture
What is a song, when no sound can be heard
...

A sense, I have not felt, nor tasted or smelt – Yet
Lingers,
And runs through me and all my thoughts
My soul rages battle with my mind, out of this; it’s you I always find
...

Each night I leave your side
I left you there,
I’ve nothing to hide.

Signs around every day,
Telling us of how and the way.

Lights changing colour or guiding the way,
...

.............. Trust me babe
A living hell...................

Without you near, such a fear....empty, alone, without you here.

Clouds dance upon a blue stage
Winds engage to the arrangement
Birds take to flight upon the three to add their point of view
Trees but sway, into the fray, each leaf alone, points the way
...

Absence is reflecting
Absence is dreaming
Absence is smiling
Absence is crying

11.

A dropp suddenly appears right in front of me
I sit and wonder, what makes it so clear,
Light shines through it and amplifies so
Air runs across its surface to disrupt the flow

The Rose

A grafted rose grows upon a hearty stock
Raised upon a soil of love,
Her stalk strengthens & reaches toward the sun,
Thorns develop to guard against danger.
While her leaves take in that all surround,
The air to breathe, the ever warming sun, the coolness of the quenching rain
Her buds are filled with all her love, her life.
She pushes them open with all her might, not even caring of her own plight
Each tender petal, so filled with her colour, her sent that fills the air, so rewarding & true
Each petal opens, to reveal the next, the more I see, the more I am hexed,
Leading toward her inner core, tis where she displays her struggle for life
She is glowing now in full splendour, showing to those that take the time,
To gaze, to smell & take in her wonder
Each perfect flower a testament to her undoubting strength, with each season to bloom & grow

To you my Lisa, you are all that is a Rose
