All day I turn over the soft soil,
All day I keep the horses going steady,
Now my work is almost done, my toil,

This huge black beast
Growling and fiercely terrifying,
Its razor sharp claws,

I have fifty in my sight.
Say that's one a week
For fifty weeks -
That's not too ambitious;

Keep me in your heart,
Till I or love are gone,
Then let me out
Like a homeless tear,

Then in September
When the first leaves fell,
Soft and graceful,
You came down

Pierce my hands,
I felt the flesh being tore
From my body;
