Becoming Who I Am

Though outside rages a gathering storm
My thoughts turned deeply into free form.

What will become of life and where is peace?
True love did not last, the years seemed so brief;

Why oh why has this happened to me?
I have searched my soul with transparent honesty.

The answer begins slowly and takes a beautiful form;
Becoming who I am is now the new norm.

Gone are the tormenting questions that kept me awake;
Gone are the fears and anxiety's as of late.

Is this some coincidence or paradigm shift?
The moment is now to open this treasured gift.

Finding the new life in the midst of the old;
has not become trivial but a pursuit of purest gold.

It is true my demons haunt the distant past;
throwing stones at our love that did not last.

One partner can not shoulder all the blame,
For within each of us at times is the unholy and profane,

Forgiveness is sometimes difficult to ask for and harder to obtain,
The road of patience and love will lead us to back into the game.

Relationships will come and go and this much is true,
Become the best you can be and become the real you.

Becoming who I am is now here to stay,
Better to seize the moment than for the moment to slip away.

Becoming who I am now is the new norm.
