When God has stood by me in yesteryears
When I had sinned more grievously than now,
Should I not ward off my unfounded fears,
And take the road to Heaven with new vow?

If things don’t happen in the ways they should,
And plead I did for justice umptine times,
Why should I for the clumsiness then brood?
Instead of dinars, they give me just dimes!

So narrow’s gap between one’s love and lust!
So brittle’s line between world’s war and peace!
’Tis photo-finish ’tween second and first!
A trifle separates labor from ease!

There are days of sunshine and of rain/ dew;
There are months of winter followed by spring;
There are lovely things, this earth has for you;
There are days of silence, one’s when you sing.

But Christmas isn’t a joy for just one day!
The gift supreme from God is for ever;
The baby boy-King incarnate on hay,
Without a dwelling place albeit manger!

A one-third moon is seen in clouded sky!
With yellow light within a misty veil;
The havoc-play of rain-clouds though not high!
But in a trice, the moon’s light will prevail.
